What are the Objectives of TRAI?
The TRAI full form is the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. Under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act, 1997, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) was founded on February 20th, 1997. The goal of TRAI is to foster the circumstances necessary for the country’s telecommunications industry to develop. The Central Government once had control over telecom services regulation, including the fixation/revision of tariffs.

What are the Functions of TRAI?
- Offers Recommendations:
The TRAI’s role is to offer advice on the following issues: The introduction of a new service provider is necessary. License revocation due to violation of license terms and conditions.Measures to encourage efficiency and competitiveness in the operation of telecommunications services to support their expansion. Advancements in technology affect the services that service providers offer.
- Discharge of Duties:
The TRAI is in charge of performing the following duties: It ensures adherence to license terms and conditions. Ensuring efficient integration and technological compatibility between various service providers. Establishing the requirements for the level of service that service providers must deliver. Notification of the prices at which TRAI Act, 1997-required telecommunication services must be delivered both inside and outside of India in a timely and official manner.
- Non-Binding Recommendations:
The TRAI full form is the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. The Central Government is not required to follow the TRAI’s recommendations.Any suggestion from the TRAI that the Central Government rejects or feels needs change is sent back to the Authority for further consideration. After taking into account the Central Government’s referral, the TRAI sends its proposal to that government within 15 days.
