The NIA full form is National Investigation Agency it is a central counter-terrorism law enforcement agency that operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. This NIA is established in 2008 after the Mumbai terror attack incident the same year.
Features of NIA:
- The NIA can investigate terror cases all over the country without having to obtain permission from the state’s administration.
- The agency interrogates terror crimes, carries on a war against the country, offenses on nuclear explosions, etc.
- NIA came into force after Parliament passed the National Investigation Agency Act 2008.
